A 4-Day Residential Retreat at Loretto MotherHouse
with Karen Bess
I am excited to be offering this powerful 4-day residential retreat for experienced meditators (i.e. those who have a daily meditation practice and/or have completed a MBSR program or the equivalent). If you are not sure that this retreat is a good fit for you at your current level of practice, please contact me and we'll explore your questions with you (my contact info is at the bottom of this page).
This gathering will be held at the Loretto Motherhouse in the lovely Knobs Haven, the smaller house by the lake. Seven bedrooms which sleep 10, 2 bathrooms, complete kitchen, bigger library and a room for gathering/yoga.
The retreat will be held on March 22 through March 25, 2018, Thursday 10 am to Sunday 4 pm. There is only have room for 9 participants - so, this retreat will likely fill up quickly!
"...He breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit!" John 20:22
Many drawn to meditation & mindfulness practices are neither fully “at home” in the church, synagogue, sangha or shala. Some suffer deep-seated traumas of “church hurt”— attachment wounds woven into family & culture, formed in childhood, and hard to heal.
Leave traffic & technology far behind; Let’s go deeper into the spacious, Spirit-filled freedom of the Breath.
Explore the gifts and legacies of our Judeo-Christian roots, in a highly supportive & collaborative process, combining prayer, meditation, gentle yoga, QiGong, worship with the sisters & walking on their wonderful 800-acre farm.
Join with others devoted to mindful & contemplative practices in the central Kentucky heartland - a 1 hr. 15 min. drive south of Louisville not far from Bardstown. We will live and practice together where, in years gone by, novices were formed into the first indigenous order of nuns in America.
Lovely room and all meals are included. Space is limited to only 9 participants!
Description: Join me in my ongoing adventures tracking the miracles of mindfulness, on a 4 day retreat in the central Kentucky heartland of Spirit and spirits - a lovely one hour drive south of Louisville not far from Makers Mark and Merton’s Gethsemane. We will live, eat, and practice together at the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse on a 800-acre farm - my spiritual home away from home for nearly 40 years.
Together in this peaceful setting, while strengthening our practice of meditation/prayer, yoga, QiGong, journaling, artistic expression...we will explore the gifts and legacies of our Judeo-Christian roots and the unseen wounds that may linger and hinder our healing in our relationships and daily lives. Through a variety of interactional practices I will facilitate our intimate journey of discovery into the heart of Ultimate Ground...Clear Deep Heart-Mind...Divine Presence.
From my experience, this will be an in-depth, intimate and fluid retreat. Therefore, I am asking everyone to attend full retreat and all group sessions - Thursday morning through Sunday morning.
As the margin for paying for the reteat is small, I am also asking everyone to pay at least 1/2 of their fee as soon as they decide to join the retreat. Given this situation, I would like to consider this payment non-refundable if I am unable to fill your spot should you have to cancel.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
